Designed to look like a large fighter, the Marauder-class Corvette has an astoundingly sleek appearance and relatively small engines. Its lower production cost makes it favorable to a buyer market of mercenaries and small planetary governments.

What the Marauder-class lacks in speed, it makes up for in firepower. Able to mount stealthily approach, it wields an admirable assortment of three tractor beams to stop enemy defense maneuvers and eight turbolasers to complete its arsenal. Though not meant for head to head combat, the Marauder-class also has impressive defensive measures. With a combination of strong deflector shields and a capable ionic capacity, it can pose as a formidable foe during a drawn-out battle. It can also carry a small fighter armada or landing party with hangar and docking bays.

Well suited as a patrol craft and easily converted into a war machine, the Marauder-class has been seeing greater use in recent years as a space lane and system enforcement command ship.

The YT-2400 transport was designed with the small scale independent freighter captain in mind. Whilst most new models incorporate the newest technologies, most of the integrated systems in the YT-2400 are at least 10 years behind the times. This was done because other ships like the YT-1210 and the YT-1300 also use these parts so they are easy to come by, thus making it easier to maintain and service the ship in the field.

The YT-510, commonly dubbed the "Legacy-Arcrunner" model, has speed unmatched by any other commonly available ship, boasting significant hyperdrive improvements over the other YT models. Even more impressive are the powerful magnetosphere sublight engines, able to reach almost double the speed of previous models. Regrettably, this came at the cost of room and this ship is able to hold little but a few passengers and their supplies. Further more, it is unarmed, making it at risk to pirates. The speed however should more than make up for it.

The Firespray-class Interceptor is a heavy patrol ship which is very distinctive and has a long history. The first prototypes were developed before the Clone Wars and deployed to a remote prison facility. The ship's popularity has waxed and waned over the years, and it has been upgraded several times. It has recently experienced increased popularity and is currently being sold as a patrol ship by its manufacturer.

Unlike many patrol ships, the Firespray-class Interceptor is slower and less maneuverable than modern freighters, due to its outdated engines. Furthermore, it's very heavily armed, with an especially impressive complement of proton torpedo launchers. The Firespray is also very tough, with powerful shields and a durable hull. All told, this combination of traits is very rare in patrol ships, which are typically fast, well-armed, and new; or slow, poorly-armed, and old. This seeming contradiction is most likely because the Firespray was designed primarily for organizations that wanted to raid enemy systems while claiming they were patrolling their own. Viewed in this light, sacrificing speed for amour makes perfect sense, as does having so many proton torpedo launchers.

Perhaps the most distinctive trait of the Firespray is its landing configuration. Most ships capable of landing on a planet, or in a docking bay, do so with their bow facing forward and stern facing backward. The Firespray, conversely, lands with its bow pointed upwards and rests on its stern. This allows the Firespray to take-off from a planet very quickly, simply by firing its primary engines, while other freighters have to use repulsorlifts to get clear of the ground, then rotate to bring their primary engines to bear. This advantage becomes a disadvantage when landing in docking bays, which are designed to accommodate 'upright' ships.

The Pursuer Enforcement Ship is a formidable freighter capable of surprising any unaware attackers in mere seconds. Capable of out-running almost every freighter available to public, it packs a considerable punch.

Shaped like a long, thin rectangle, the Pursuer is stabilized in flight with port side wings and a maneuvering cluster housed along its keel. Its dual heavy lasers, located under the cockpit, turret-mounted ion cannon, and military grade shield grid allow the Pursuer's pilot to take on dangerous foes. The lack of a sensor pack and turbolaser batteries, which are impossible to power along with the shields, makes it vulnerable to fast attacks, but in the hands of a skilled pilot it has been proven to be a formidable weapon.

Widely used as a police vessel on border worlds, the Pursuer was gradually adapted for prisoner transport, with brig compartments placed in the aft part of the ship. The addition of these secure accommodations have led to it becoming a fixture in bounty hunting society.

The Starwind class Yacht was originally based on a light freighter design intended to challenge the popular YT series. In mid-design however, it was altered to appeal more to the upper scale of the market, moving away from the freighter design and becoming a luxury space yacht. The Starwind class has a stronger hull than most ships constructed for civilian recreational use, but it has been most commonly accepted that they appeal mostly to those with more credits than sense. At sublight speed the yacht is slow and cumbersome and the weaponry leaves much to be desired. The only thing that the Starwind does have going for it is the amount of luxury put into the interior design.

An old but sturdy design, the W-23 Star Hauler is built for practicality and not for looks. Only able to carry a captain and pilot in it's cramped flight deck most of the available space is devoted to carrying capacity and the engines. It was designed without the usual hangar bay to increase hull strength and its volume capacity and was given only a basic sensor suite to feed the engines enough power to outrun most other freighters built in its time. Unfortunately it is a compromise between fast freighters with small capacity and old large freighters with slow engines meaning that it can do both jobs but performs neither rather well. Outpaced by bulk freighters it has seen better days. However, it cheap construction costs causes it to be popular still for those that have less credits or can manage with several smaller freighters.

Another design brought to life by Corellian engineers, the YV-666 is considerably larger than its smaller and cheaper counterparts. The ship sports a long, tall, blocky main hull with port and starboard maneuvering fins to the rear of the craft for vertical movement. A decent all-round ship, the YV-666 manages to retain the legendary ease of modification usually prevalent in smaller freighters.

As with most of the YV series, the YV-666 is built around a two deck main hull. The top deck houses the bridge and navigation systems, while the bottom deck is devoted to engines, power cores, weapons systems and storage bays. The main deck, arguably the major selling point of the ship, is capable of housing both vehicles and fighters. The holds are large enough that one trader claimed he found it could fit a personal residence with room to spare for his speeder. As such, many pirates use the YV-666 as escort carriers on supply raids. Nevertheless, the ship's light armament puts it at something of a disadvantage when faced with better armed customized merchant frigates.

Overall, the YV-666 features a simple but admirably effective propulsion system, granting the freighter considerable maneuverability, as well as decent hyperspace and sub light speeds despite its size.

The Cloakshape/H is a popular fighter throughout the galaxy because of it being Hyperdrive capable compared to the original Cloakshape design. Cloakshapes used to be restricted to just one sector, but the Cloakshape/H can go all around the Galaxy. Though not as heavily armed as its predecessor, it still packs a punch with its heavy lasers. Some believe the reason of less weapons is to make room for the Hyperdrive. It is easy to modify the fighter and upgrade its engine, shields and weapons. The most common modification to date is the maneuvering fin at the tail which helps handling the ship better in atmosphere. In fact, it's so common, people often think it's part of the original design.

Since the Cloakshape/H can only hold 1 passenger, it is basically used as a cheap, Hyperdrive capable, personal transport, and is often used for small courier missions. Though not very popular with factions it still finds its way throughout the galaxy. It can be used to help in reconnaissance and patrolling a system. It is also sometimes used by smaller freelance groups to protect unarmed spaceships. Should the main transport come under attack, the Cloakshape/H can distract the attacking force long enough for the transport to make it to its destination safely.

The Cloakshape fighter, developed by Kuat Systems Engineering, is a fighter of antiquated design. Despite outdated aspects compared to modern fighters, it continues to see active service with corporations, local governments, mercenaries, and pirates.

The base model, factory-spec Cloakshape is equipped with two heavy lasers for dogfights, and two concussion missile launchers for larger targets and atmospheric engagements. As a short-range fighter, it lacks hyperdrive capability and relies upon ground installations or carriers for deployment. While not as swift a fighter as some newer craft, the Cloakshape has a great deal of maneuverability that competes with and exceeds many modern fighter craft. Although the factory-spec model lacks deflector shields, a reinforced hull makes it a durable and reliable fighter.

A large reason why the Cloakshape is still used today is its adaptability. Many after-market upgrades are still available, including enhanced sensor packages, stronger engines, deflector shield generators, and alloy hull replacements for further reinforcement. It is often said in smugglers' dens that it's impossible to find an "original" Cloakshape, as so many have been heavily modified. While the Cloakshape may be less advanced compared to modern fighters, its adaptability and reliability still makes it a viable and cost-effective alternative.

Small, slow, and defenseless, the escape pod is a necessity for any medium to large ship. These vessels are lifesavers in the event of catastrophic accidents or attacks by overwhelming forces. Throughout history, innumerable naval personnel and civilian crews have reached safety only because they had a sufficient number of escape pods onboard.

Each escape pod can comfortably transport one passenger from doom to survival. A pod can also carry a limited amount of cargo, which may allow for vital information to be saved from destruction. Ideally, ejected pods are soon picked up by a friendly ship; if not, they have enough fuel for escapees to reach a nearby planet. Their lack of hyperdrive means that any pods lost in deep space will have to await a recovery vessel, but they do have comm systems, so even then many lives may be saved by the humble escape pod.
