The Federation Security Service (FSS) acts as the law enforcement agency of the Trade Federation and public liaison for all Trade Federation security matters. The department manages shield access for all Trade Federation territory as well as external access to Federation property. In special circumstances, the FSS will assist the military as special force troops. As of recent, the department has expanded its field of expertise to include protection of Cabinet members when military escort is required.

The FSS-General is the commanding officer of the Federation Security Service. Working closely with the Cabinet on all internal security matters makes selection of a FSS-General an important venture. Along with serving the Ministry of Defense, the FSS-General sits on the Trade Federation Directorate.
